In March 2026, Formosa Quartet will bring the American Mirror Project to the Windy City. Join us for this special reflection on Chicago’s rich yet tangled past, present, and future. This specially curated program is designed to take audiences on a journey through the beloved sounds of the city in a combination of music and spoken word.

Explore the city’s early beginnings on Native homelands and its history of growth fueled by labor, unrest, and poverty; delve into its place as the seedbed of jazz, blues, gospel, and soul; and reflect its vibrant fabric of diversity today. A world premiere piece by Chicago-based composer Paul Novak for string quartet and narration is at the heart of this program, with original texts written and performed by voices from the Chicago community.
